Sidmouth Warriors Match Report

Central City 4 (2) Sidmouth Warriors 3 (3)
City started 2017 with a battling performance to earn a deserved victory over the Warriors. Within two minutes of kick off Central had the perfect start to the year when Dan's lob forward, dropped over the keeper and into the back of the net.

With Central starting the game with a 4 man defence it was hoped that this would shore up the back line, but within 5 minutes Central were behind with Warriors walking through to score a couple of soft goals. This set back did not affect the players and although they were playing up hill and into the wind they showed a much improved physical presence and played some great attacking football into a stiff chilly breeze. These efforts were rewarded after 20 minutes when a great strike by Tom Day brought the scores level. City continued to play the better football but on the stroke of half time a cracking shot from Sidmouth flew into the bottom corner leaving Noah with no chance.

Losing again at half time, City changed to a back three and with the wind behind, they went out for the second half still believing that they could win the match. From kick off the midfield were in complete command and the Warriors rarely ventured out of their own half. Dylan had missed a couple chances in the box, before Dan stepped inside the last defender and placed his low shot beyond the keeper. It was 3-3 with 20 minutes remaining. With Warriors foul count increasing, Cameron took control of the set pieces and when given the opportunity from 25 yards out, he blasted his shot into the top of the goal. The lead was thoroughly deserved and the last ten minutes passed with Central comfortably seeing the match to its end.

Well done to the players for there improvement in physical commitment and passing.
