Some exciting team news!!

Hi everyone

Have some really exciting and good news which I know all players and parents will be interested in!

As some of you know Cameron has been training with the Arsenal development squad for the last year and has been selected to play in their 3 v 3 Schools World Cup tournament at the Emirates Stadium at the end of May!

He was selected from over 2000 players and will be playing for Arsenal against teams from all around the world including Egypt, Singapore, Kuwait, Bahrain and France.

I am sure we will all be excited for Cameron and wish him well for the tournament, I will let you know how he gets on!

Hope hat you all have a nice weekend…….what will we do with our Saturday mornings?!?!?!

Cheers

What can I say.......

Wow what a weekend we have had! It was great to see so many of the boys and their families at the award ceremony on Saturday and to celebrate the end of a great season for Central City!!

It gave me great pride to stand next to the boys on stage, the only central FC team to be promoted this season.

What an achievement and we should all be pleased and proud of the part that you have played.

To the award winners I say congratulations and well done, but you are all winners, all heroes and this has been such a great team effort.

The match on Friday seems like such a long time ago already, it was a funny old game wasn’t it and whilst we came off second best, the look on Will A’s and Oscars faces after they scored was priceless!! Well done boys and to Dan also for scoring and to Ryan for being the captain for the evening.

So there we go, League One beckons and another exciting year of youth football. John and I are going to meet up some time in June for a chat about the next season and what we need to do to make it a successful season.

We will have a break now from regular training and playing and are probably going to re group in early August.

We will have a lot of work to do pre season, fitness levels will need to high right from the first game in League One, the standard as I understand it, will be consistently high and so we will need to be ready.

Also playing offside (both attacking and defending) will need to be something that will take time.

I would like to offer this note of reassurance.  We will not be making wholesale changes to the squad, you are the boys that got the team promoted and you will be the boys that will be playing in League One next season if you want to.

We know that we are loosing Julen and that will be a great loss but unless I hear otherwise I am working on the basis that everyone else will be wanting to carry on with Central City.

End of Season Social Day
Just to remind everyone that we will be having our end of season social this year at the River dart Country Park on Saturday 21st June. More details will follow but this should be a great day out and it would be lovely to see as many there as possible.

Also we will be entering teams in a couple of 5 or 6-a-side tournaments in the summer months. Dates yet to be confirmed but I will phone around the squad to see who is available nearer the time.

I hope school is going well and not too stressful leading into SATS week, well done to each and everyone of you and to all the parents and families that have helped to make this such a great experience and a wonderful season of youth football.

From John and myself we wish you a great few weeks and hope to see you at the River Dart Country Park.

Thanks
 Mark

A big thank you from Julen for the fantastic canvas print of the team which he received at the awards ceremony. It will hold pride of place in his new bedroom!

We look forward to seeing everyone at River Dart Park and hopefully at some tournaments beforehand. In the meantime, here's a link to a short slide show of some of the highlights of Julen's season (with thanks to Micky for providing the photos all season).

Out with a Bang!!

Hi everyone,

Well hope you have all had a great week after the elation of the weekend and securing promotion in such a exciting and impressive way!!

That makes it a 9 game unbeaten run which I think you should all be so proud of and we can now start to dream of league One next season!

Our final game of the season is on Friday 2nd May. I know that we will be missing Will P but unless I hear otherwise I will presume that all other players are available.

As we indicated on Sunday we hope to do something a bit different as we have secured our promotion place. We will be putting the positions into a hat and then asking you to draw one out, which will be the starting team! It should be a bit of fun, but also good to see you all play in unfamiliar positions. So come prepared to be anywhere on the pitch!!

Some players will definitely be starting on Friday including Oscar and Sam W, and Ryan has been handed the captains arm band for this final game.

I hope that this will be a celebration of our season, no pressure on the game, but wouldn’t it be great to take our unbeaten record into double figures!!

The weather is looking fair so it would be lovely to see as many parents and supporters there as possible, 6pm warm up for a 6.30pm kick off.

Also just a few details about the Awards Ceremony on Saturday (3rd May).

It is shaping up to be a great occasion and a chance to celebrate 20 years of Central FC. I know that Nigel and Tim go to lots of effort to make this a special occasion for all the boys. There is a bar and food available so should be fun.

Nigel has asked that everyone arrive via Stadium Way, then into the marquee. I think there are some other events going on in the stadium in the afternoon.

I will get there early and try and reserve our team a table or two so we can all sit together, if I can ask that everyone arrive around 1:30pm so that the ceremony can start on time that would be great.

Any problems please let me know, see you on Friday,

Mark
