Training on Wednesday evening

Hello everyone, What a great session we had on Saturday and thank you so much for everyone that came along. I thought it a good mixture of skills, fitness and playing. Hope all the bumps and knocks have resolved themselves in preparation for training tomorrow night. The weather (touching food and with fingers crossed) is looking reasonable for the rest of the week and should mean the game will go ahead on Saturday. Therefore the mid week session this week will be focusing on match preparation as well as working on fitness. Specifically we will be recapping on attacking and defending corners and working on play from goal kicks. See you all at 6pm. Mark

Dear parents and players.
Thank you very much for the cars and money that you gave me for my birthday. It was very much appreciated.

Wednesday night is training night!!

Hello one and all!!

Hope that you all enjoyed the 6 a-side tournament on Saturday, it worked really well and it was great to see so many of you there.

It was also nice to welcome Ewan to play with us.

Training tomorrow night is from 6-7 pm at St Lukes.

The training focus this week will be heading and retaining the ball under pressure.

The weather is looking dry for tomorrow so that’s great news and should enable us to have a good training session.

Remember that we try and aim for 20mins fitness and agility, 20mins skills and match preparation, and then finish with a 20min match.

After speaking with all players and parents it transpired that none was going to take up the Exeter City Day which the club had arranged. There were a number of reasons and I have fed these back to Nigel.

However rather than simply waste the morning I have had contact with Okehampton again and have asked if we can still play them on Saturday 8th February at home.

They have confirmed that this is okay and so we are back on!!!

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow for training.

Match day information and much more!!!

Hello everyone (players and parents!)

It was great to get back to training on a Wednesday evening and whilst it was a bit wet you all worked and trained really hard.

During this session we built on the work that we did on attacking and defending corners which is really exciting!

Now we have to put this training into practice during the next set of matches.

Our next match is on Saturday 18th January against Tiverton FC at home on the KGV fields (10.30am kick off)

We welcome back Dan after breaking his wrist and hope to have a full squad. Julen will be wearing the captains armband for these next two matches for showing great attitude and commitment to training and playing this season.

The starting team for Saturday will be:

Goalkeeper – Sam R

Defence – Sam P, Cameron and Oscar

Midfield – Joe, Will P, Ryan and Julen

Striker – Alfie W

Starting Subs: Will A, Alfie R and Dan.

As you will remember we played well against Tiverton last year and were unlucky to come away with a draw so it will be good to see how all our hard work and training is paying off!!

As ever help with setting the goals up will be appreciated. The weather is looking showery, but the pitches drain well so we should be okay.

Cameron’s Party
It is great that so many of you can come after the match to the Golf and Country Club to help celebrate Cameron’s birthday.

Fran has arranged for us to use the changing rooms at the Golf and Country Club before we eat, it could be a muddy and wet match!!

We will finish at 2.30pm (sorry not 3pm as I may have said!)

Exeter City Match Day
As last year Nigel has organised a special day for players on the 8th February.

Hopefully you will all had the flyer but if not then I will try and attach one to this blog entry!!

As you will see it gives players the opportunity to train with the Exeter City coaches in the morning as well as watching the game against Portsmouth in the afternoon.

As a result of this opportunity the match which we had planned against Okehampton will have to be rearranged! More details to follow.

If you would like to attend this day then it is essential that you return the forms to Nigel (via me if you wish) ASAP and certainly by the start of next week.

Rearranged Matches
The matches before and after the festive break were postponed as you know due to the weather.

When matches are postponed the home team (in our case CS Leopards and Colyton) contact the league who allocate an alternative date.

It is not something that I am seemingly unable to influence. Therefore the rearranged matches thus far are

Saturday 22nd February AWAY at Colyton Redsocks (appreciate that we have matches on both Saturdays of the half term holiday)

Saturday 26th April AWAY at CS Leopards

Training Squad
We will be welcoming two new players to join our training squad on Wednesday nights which is exciting.

We hope that Sam and Ewan will be training with us over the next few months and then hopefully join the playing team in time. It will be good to welcome then to our squad.

New Kit Update
The latest news from the suppliers is that the new shirts have arrived and I will now need to get them printed with the team logo and numbered. Not long now!!!

Okay well that is more than enough from me, see you all on Saturday.

Come on City!!!!!

Top Quality Training Session!!

I had a great time on Saturday and thought it was some of the best training that we have done as a team.

You all pushed and worked really hard, it was great to see and that kind of fitness work will benefit us in those long, hard winter games!

I was also really grateful for John coaching us about attacking and defending corners.

We will continue to practice this most weeks, am also aware that we did not have Dan, Alfie R and Oscar with us.

The sight of Sam P, Alfie and Cameron charging in to meet as header was really exciting and will put fear in any defence I am sure!!

Training on Wednesday will be from 6-7pm.  Cameron and I are not able to make it this week and so John and Callad will be leading the training session.  If you cannot make it please let me know.

We will also have a training session on Saturday, hopefully at King George V from 10am to 12noon.

The weather continues to look unsettled but if we decide to postpone any sessions I will let you know as soon as possible.

I have attached some pictures from Saturday which I hope you will enjoy.

 Cheers

Another postponed match!!!!

Hello everyone,

Hope that you have all had a good break over this festive period and I wish you all a happy new year, let's hope it will be a good year for the team!!

So, as I have indicated in my text the match on Saturday 4th January against CS Leopards has been postponed due to their pitches being waterlogged.

Unfortunately the pitches at King George are also unplayable so our extended break continues!! We will (if the weather permits) have training on Wednesday 8th January from 6pm to 7pm at St Lukes.

The following Saturday 11th January will be an extended training session at King George V which will be a nice chance to practice on grass, this will be from 10am to 12noon, again if the weather permits!

This then leaves our next competitive match as a home game against Tiverton Town on the 18th January, by this time we hope to welcome Dan back after breaking his wrist.

I am sure like me you are missing the buzz of the team, playing, training and watching.

When matches are postponed due to the weather the people who organise the league are asked to select an alternative date.

Looking at our list of fixtures I suspect that these will be tacked onto the end of the matches in April but as soon as I hear I will let you know.

Cant wait to see you all on Wednesday for training

 Happy New Year!!
